Linear Settlements
In geography, a linear settlement is a small to medium sized settlement that is formed around roads, rivers, and canals. They are often simply a single street with houses/buildings on both sides of the road. They are also known as linear patterns or linear villages. Linear settlements usually develop due to the growth of the town being restricted by hills, mountains, rivers, valleys.
Central Focused Point of Population= Nucleated Settlement
Nucleated settlement: A settlement in which towns or villages are focused at a central point. This central point is usually an important location, primarily chosen through the amount of benefit it can provide for the people, such as easiness of defense, access to water, and convenient transformation.
Examples-
Seoul, Korea:
Picture of Nucleated Settlement: Seoul.
Seoul is an example of nucleated settlement; it has a river right next to it with many roads that connect to multiple cities in Korea. Its location is also suitable for effective defense against other countries such as Japan.

North America Example:
Manhattan, NY: One of the most busiest city in the world and in North America.
